Five of the Best on-the-go Lunch Spots in Glasgow

One of the best things about living in a city like Glasgow is that no matter where you are, a quick grab and go lunch is never far away.  Whether you’re grabbing something for work or taking a break from shopping, there are so many quick and delicious options available across the city.  Here are some of my favourite pit-stops…

[Martha’s Glasgow Facebook]
Oh Martha’s, how I love thee!  This is one of my go-to lunch spots when I want something quick, delicious, but surprisingly healthy.  Not all fast food has to be bad for you, and if you’re concerned about that pesky diet, Martha’s range of smoothies, salads and slow cooked meats are here to help!  I always tend to go for a wrap – a wholesome Khobez flat bread filled with the house slaw and one of their delicious meaty or veggie fillings.  My favourites tend to be the red dragon pork or the chipotle chicken, but there is always plenty to choose from, and almost everything is less than 600kcals!

[Taste Buchanan Facebook]
Ideal after a long day of browsing and spending in Buchanan Galleries, Taste Buchanan brings you the flavours of street food in a convenient food court – what’s not to love?!  With street food taking Scotland by storm at the moment, it’s not surprising that someone was smart enough to drop a bunch of vendors into a shopping centre!  The selection of food is always changing, but right now you can get your hands on Mexican from Taco Mazama, Pan-Asian from Sunshine Kitchen, delicious stuffed buntzels from the Hot Stuffed Bread Company, and more!

Whether you’re in the city centre or the West End, there’s always a Nic’s nearby! Their extensive range of sandwiches, hot dogs, crepes and of course, doughnuts, means all your sweet and savoury needs are right here under one roof.  With locations in St Enoch Square, Hope Street, and Byres Road, they’re easily accessible – plus you’ll totally win points in the office if you bring back a box of their soft and delicious doughnuts.  Honestly, my tummy is rumbling just thinking about them…

Dumpling Monkey.jpg

Maybe not everyone’s first choice, but I love the easy to order and affordable dim sum selection from Dumpling Monkey.  Located on Dumbarton Road, you can choose from a selection of dumplings, steamed buns, wontons, and starters, as well as a wide selection of larger dishes.  I’m a big fan of the Pork & Chinese Leaves dumplings, and at just £5 for 10, I’d say that’s pretty good value for money!  You can have the dumplings either steamed or as pot stickers, but you do have to pay an extra 50p for pot stickers.  If you’re not a dim sum fan, there are still plenty of classic takeaway dishes to choose from, so if you’re in the mood for a Chinese for today’s lunch, why not try Dumpling Monkey?

Located in the ever-trendy Finnieston area, Seb & Mili have a constantly changing selection of sandwiches, cakes, doughnuts, and specials, from salads to soups and stews.  It’s a small café, so on a busy day you may be pushed to get a seat, but there are plenty of takeaway options, including a regularly stocked basket full of pre-made sandwiches that you can just grab and go!  If you want to indulge your sweet tooth, Seb & Mili regularly have perfect little macarons, pastries, and cakes to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Think I’ve forgotten somewhere?  Let me know, and make sure you stop by next month for my top five spots for a perfect Chinese.
