Five of the Best Brunch Spots in Glasgow

As mentioned in my Relaunch post, I’ve decided to add some new features to my blog, one of which is a new monthly guide to some of the best spots for your favourite dishes, from steak to tapas to pizza.  First up, five of my favourite places to get brunch in Glasgow!

Over the years, our love of brunch has grown considerably, with more and more restaurants and cafes opting to offer breakfast and brunch menus alongside the usual lunch and dinner options.  Glasgow has some of the best brunch spots around, so I’ve decided to round up a few of my favourites to help you narrow down your search…

CAFE ZIQUE

An oldie, but forever a goodie.  Located on Hyndland Street in Partick, this small cafe offers a simple menu of breakfast classics from a full English, to French Toast and is always packed on a Sunday morning.  Breakfast is served from 9am all the way through to 5pm, so don’t worry if you sleep in!

Make sure you try… The Big Breakfast – the giant homemade scones are fantastic, as are the pork & herb sausages.

THE LEFT BANK

A great menu for any time of day, The Left Bank’s brunch menu has a selection of unusual options, from huevos mexicanos to a Lebanese breakfast.  It’s dog friendly, so your pup can accompany you to breakfast too!  Breakfast is served 9-12 Monday to Friday, and 10am till 5pm at the weekend.

Make sure you try…The French Toast – made with big, thick slices of bread and covered in maple syrup, it’s an indulgent way to start your day!

CAFE GANDOLFI

Located in Merchant City, this trendy spot has gorgeous wooden décor, a relaxed atmosphere and an extensive breakfast menu, with almost any type of eggs you can think of!  Boasting the best Scottish ingredients, the food won’t disappoint!  Breakfast served 8am to 11.30am Mon – Sat, and 9am to 11.30am Sundays.

Cafe Gandolfi

Make sure you try…The Eggs Hebridean – delicious poached eggs on top of flavoursome Stornoway black pudding.

HILLHEAD BOOKCLUB

Another West End spot, Hillhead Bookclub has a bit of a hipster feel to it, but don’t let that put you off! The brunch menu has some unusual dishes, from “pulled duck baked beans” to breakfast burgers, along with the usual classics.  Available throughout the week from 11am on weekdays or 10am on weekends.

Make sure you try…The Tasty Pancakes with Bacon – they are massive, like the size of your face, and so fluffy!  Make sure you ask for extra maple syrup though, you’ll need it!

SINGL-END

A charming bake house and cafe, Singl-end provides a great selection for all your vegan, gluten-free or veggie needs, as well as smoothies for the health-nut in your brunch club – but don’t worry, there’s always a lovely spread of cakes, traybakes and scones if you’re dumping the diet!  Breakfast served from 9am on weekdays, and 10am on weekends!

Make sure you try…The Spicy Baked Eggs – the meaty version is a delicious casserole with pork & fennel sausages, yum!

These places look great! I live in Glasgow and want to write more posts about eating in Glasgow. I’ve never been to any of these places shockingly. Singl-end looks right up my street though! Thanks for posting xx

  2. Have only tried the Left Bank and Singl-end out of this list. Need to get a move on and try the others. Great recommendations.
